Will The #1 Player in the World play the #1 Ball in Golf – AGAIN?

September 21, 2016 – Last year, as the world’s greatest golfers of 2015 took the stage at the FedEx Cup finale we asked this question. The answer was YES – Jordan Speith won the championship and played the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball, a ball, Titleist markets as the #1 Ball in Golf. At the same time, we pointed out that the winner had many competitors donning their caps and bags with other balls broadcasting out the increasing adoption of alternative golf balls played on the PGA Tour.

This year we have updated our rankings going into the finale this weekend. The team at GBT Technologies and GolfBallTest.org have confirmed that of the Top 15 players in the world (as ranked by the World Golf Ranking), six play the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball (the same number as last year, 40% of the total); four play the TaylorMade Tour Preferred X golf ball (27%); three play the Callaway Chrome Soft golf ball; (20%), and two players, Rory Mcllroy and Paul Casey, play a Nike golf ball (13%). This year there are no players in the top fifteen that play a Bridgestone or Srixon golf ball.

So, while Titleist, the self-acclaimed #1 ball in golf has the clear lead in this elite group of golfers with 40% of the count, there are also 9 of 15 (60%) who are winning with something other than a Pro V1 or Pro V1x.

Here is the list of the World Golf Top 15 ranked players, along with their FedEx Cup point standing, and the ball they are currently playing:
