Each PERFORMANCE CERTIFIED™ golf ball is subjected to the following test protocol and 6-point check administered by GolfBallTest.org:
Each PERFORMANCE CERTIFIED™ golf ball is inspected, and its model and year are verified using the Digital Ball Catalog™ maintained by GolfBallSelector.com and the PERFORMANCE CERTIFIED™ Ball List. There are significant differences in construction and performance from year to year, with minimal disclosure by many vendors as to what exactly is being shipped. This identification ensures that consumers know the exact golf ball they are buying.
Each PERFORMANCE CERTIFIED™ golf ball is inspected and verified to be of only the highest top grades: Grade AAAAA (5A) or Grade AAAA (4A), per our stringent Quality Grade Scale1. This ensures that customers are getting only the highest quality graded golf balls on a consistent basis. We do not validate recycled balls designated as “value or practice” balls and we never validate or endorse refinished2 golf balls.
Each PERFORMANCE CERTIFIED™ golf ball is inspected and tested to confirm it is in excellent cover condition. PERFORMANCE CERTIFIED™ golf balls designated as Platinum, Gold, or Premium will have no corporate or school logos, no player ball marks and no cover discoloration. Additionally, no PERFORMANCE CERTIFIED™ golf ball will have its cover refinished, repainted, or altered. This ensures that consumers receive golf balls of only the highest quality and condition, with no cover-ups.
Each PERFORMANCE CERTIFIED™ golf ball has been compression tested and benchmarked to “compression-as-new” measures. This ensures that consumers are getting a golf ball that has not deteriorated over time.
Each PERFORMANCE CERTIFIED™ golf ball has been tested to confirm it is still round and spherically symmetrical in shape. This ensures that consumers get a golf ball that conforms to the Rules of Golf and plays “true”.
PERFORMANCE CERTIFIED™ golf balls are evaluated using a rigorous testing protocol administered by GolfBallTest.org with swing machine robots and launch monitor technology capturing launch angle, carry distance and spin rate. This ballistics and aerodynamics data is verified with GolfBallSelector.com’s performance database of balls tested “as new”. This helps ensure that consumers are getting a golf ball whose performance has not deteriorated over time.
Notes:
1 A new golf ball may be included in a C3 SELECT™ PERFORMANCE CERTIFIED™ Sample Test Pack when not available as a Grade 5A or Grade 4A recycled golf ball.
2 Used golf balls with a cover that has been refinished or reconditioned by a number of different manufacturing processes, including stripping, repainting or re-application of clear coat. These balls should be marked as “refinished” or “remanufactured” and do not carry the original manufacturers’ warranties.
